Nation-wide outdoor choral piece with dance.
For One-day only, a special event at 14 sites across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the National Trust will celebrate being outdoors in nature, in partnership with Heritage Open Days and Sadler’s Wells,as part of its 125th anniversary. Choreographer Ben Wright, with support from Sadler’s Wells, is developing the concept for the dance. Composer Esmeralda Conde Ruiz is creating a new musical score which will be performed by a team of different local choirs at each of the events:
“I am delighted to create a nation-wide choral piece for this project, which is inspired by nature and is an invitation to come outdoors and be part of something truly meaningful. The music is based on the cycle of the four seasons, echoing poems from the National Trust’s archives. It is a tremendous joy to write music that connects us to nature and I am really looking forward to the celebrations!”
